30 in 30 - #1: Follow Me

Welcome to Day 1 of the 30 in 30 Paint Challenge offered by Leslie Saeta!

I have never done a painting challenge like this before.  Painting 30 pieces in 30 days seems daunting simply from a numbers perspective!  As I mentioned in previous blog posts, I want to loosen up my style and bring movement to my works.  By putting the pressure on to paint so many pieces I expect I will stop thinking so much about what I'm doing and just paint.  I got a taste of that feeling tonight with "Follow Me".  I arranged the pears on the table, chose colors, sketched quickly, loaded my brush and went for it.  I really like the result!

I look forward to learning more through this challenge...some paintings I may love, some may be "meh", and some may be "learning opportunities" that will be hard to post. :-)

So follow me and let's enjoy the adventure!

  1. I see why you are happy with this. I LOVE it. Great colors and movement, a truly upbeat painting I am so excited to see that you used acrylics, too! And I am thrilled that someone else is working on movement in their paintings for this challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you paint. Are you really going to post the "hard to post" ones? I decided a long time ago I couldn't do that! Thanks for visiting my blog...

    1. I think if I have a "hard to post" one I can post it, talk about the lesson learned, then revisit it in a later post with updates on any changes. I taught in a local studio so I enjoy sharing my lessons with others. Even if they are hard :-)
